WILFORD LIBRARY NATIONAL MEDIA COVERAGE

14th June 2010

Last week, two Wilford Community Group committee members were interviewed for BBC Television News to discuss the closure of Wilford library. Barring unforeseen circumstances, the interview is due to be shown on the BBC National News at 6 o'clock and 10 o'clock on Wednesday 16th June 2010.

Today, the Secretary of the Group was interviewed for the BBC Radio 4 Today programme about communities taking over the running of local libraries. Coincidentally, this item is also planned for broadcast between 6:00am and 9:00am on Wednesday 16th June 2010.

While the closure of the library is now inevitable, the Community Group continues to investigate the feasibility of an asset transfer. The issue will be discussed at the next meeting of Wilford Community Group that will take place on Thursday 24th June at 7:30pm at Wilford Social Club. All residents are encouraged to attend as we would like to hear their suggestions for what can be done with the site.
