Located within the heart of Nottingham City, just south of the River Trent, Wilford has a thriving community

In recent years Wilford benefited from the Nottingham Tram extension, Clifton South line, and is connected to the train station and city centre within minutes. Wilford Village, Wilford Lane and Compton Acres are the three Tram Stops serving Wilford community.

Wilford has two popular schools, St Patricks and South Wilford School. The Ferry Inn, The Wilford Green and Wilford Social Club are perfect for a pint.

If you would like to find out more about the history of Wilford, we have a History Society who meet regularly. For more information contact wilfordcg@hotmail.com

The Wilford Community Group aims to engender community enrichment through a programme of inclusive events which imaginatively utilise all the community spaces and amenities at its disposal.  In addition, we proactively promote awareness of other social groups and stakeholders through our communication network, so as to encourage participation through transparency and fellowship.  We pride ourselves on being positive, creative and pragmatic; wherever possible we endeavour to orchestrate caring solutions to our community’s needs.

Iremonger's Pond Association

Iremonger's Pond is a unique local beauty spot- which relies on members of the community for its up keep. The pond is stocked and is perfect for a tranquil day of fishing. Fishing is open to all members, membership pricing is kept low at 50p per week for the full year. Alternatively, why not take a stroll, or have a picnic, and just enjoy the peace of nature.

The pond has benefitted from a dedicated community association who maintain the pond and manage memberships, but needs more people to help support- any contribution is welcomed. For more information about the Pond, memberships and how you can get involved, please see the dedicated website.

Amenities to the pond include a Community Orchard, planted by local volunteers; a dipping platform to educated young children, and a wheelchair accessible route around the entire pond.

Striving to build a safe, vibrant local community for all

Wilford Community Group:

The Community Group was established in 2002, with the following aims:

  • To promote the interests of tenants and residents and campaign for improvements to housing conditions, services and the environment
  • To encourage the involvement of tenants and residents in the presentation and improvement of Wilford’s amenities
  • To provide representation of the interests of tenants and residents when dealing with Local Authorities and other bodies
  • To organise local events to encourage a community spirit

The Group is run by an elected Committee and holds monthly meetings which are open to all    Wilford residents.  The Group is closely associated with the Iremongers Pond Association lending its support to this worthwhile ongoing community project.
