Minutes of 21st April 2008 Committee Meeting Approved Matters ArisingIt was reported that the recycling area by the Co-op has now been tidied up. As a result of the litter pick on the embankment near to the Emmanuel School, it had been suggested by a resident that a litter bin be placed on the embankment footpath. As this was within the boundaries of Rushcliffe Council, ES agreed to contact them to discuss the provision of a bin. |

Review of Youth MeetingAbout fifteen young people attended the event. While the results of the survey that was carried out will be published at a later date, it was felt that the over-riding message was that facilities were wanted but the young people did not want to have to travel to Clifton to make use of them. BC-S reported that in the short term the Youth Service could be approached to organise supervised trips to the facilities available at Lady Bay using Nottingham Community Transport mini-buses that could be used. |

Iremongers PondBR reported that the Iremongers Pond Association (IPA) had officers and a committee in place. The revise constitution has been submitted to the City Council for approval. A bank account had been opened and a formal request had been made to the Council to take on the lease for the Pond area. It was hoped that this would be in place for 19th July 2008, which is the first National Fishing Day and would prove a suitable occasion for the formal launch of the IPA. It was reported that there had been some clearing up of the area around the Pond but that an organised clean-up of the Pond area would take place on Monday 9th June between 10am and 2pm. DB agreed to publicise the event on the website and notice boards. The IPA will chase the Environment Agency about outstanding items from their works to redevelop the Pond, including the path, seating and signage. It was noted that the IPA is an organisation independent of the Wilford Community Group and while the latter will support and help the IPA in their works, there is now no formal link between the two organisations and each will act and work independently of the other. |

Area Committee UpdateBH reported that funding has been secured for three planters to be placed in Grange Close. ES stressed that it would be a community responsibility to ensure that the planters were kept full and tidy. ES also reported that there were some old planters that had been returned to the Council depot that could also be secured for use in Wilford. BH reported that the 191 bus service would be discussed at the next Area Committee meeting. DB will provide BH with the previous survey of passenger numbers and will also invite a representative from Nottingham Community Transport to attend the next WCG committee meeting and suggest that a further survey be carried out of passenger numbers including the numbers who were denied boarding. |

Any Other BusinessCrime IssuesNB reported that in March there had been seven crimes in the Wilford area but this had risen to twenty-three in April. At the present time the burglary rate in Wilford is very low, with only one reported recently. Of the seven crimes reported in March, five were solved. NB emphasised once again that the crime rate in Wilford is very low compared with other areas of the City. NB suggested that the level of anti-social behaviour attributed to school children arriving at the Emmanuel School using school buses should lessen from July when the services will drop children at the school from Wilford Lane. It was noted that that the Maypole has reopened on a short lease. NB reported that CSO Charles Dewa will soon be working full-time on the Wilford and Silverdale beat. Play AreaES reported that she had been approached by parents about the feasibility of installing a play area in Wilford Village. BR suggested that there was an area at Bader Road that might be suitable for an area for young children and that one local resident might be willing to be a key-holder. ES agreed to investigate who might have ownership of that land and if it is the City Council, she suggested that the Group contact Martin Harris who is the Council’s Parks Development Officer. Residents’ BinsFW reported that some Grange Close residents were leaving their bins out all week. NB reported that this was within the remit of Charles Dewa and his move to full-time working might address this. ES agreed to mention this to Mr Dewa. Neighbourhood Management TeamES reported that the Neighbourhood Management had a number of events taking place in the near future including a “Your Choice, Your Voice” event in August and an Older People’s Event in October. It was agreed that if ES sent the details to DB, he would publicise them on the website and on the notice boards. |
